The genuine CAT Tourniquet is a true one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research and has saved countless lives. Tests proved that the CAT completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage. The Gen 7 CAT utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. QuikClot like all blood clotting products have very high surface area chitosan flakes. When they come in contact with blood, QuikClot swells, gels, and sticks together to make a gel like plug. The blood clotting agent does not set off the normal clotting cascade, it only clots the blood it comes directly into contact with.​ The Emergency Bandage is a combat proven first-aid device for the staunching of blood flow from traumatic hemorrhage wounds in pre-hospital situations. This 4" wide, all-in-one device consolidates multiple first-aid devices such as a primary dressing, pressure applicator, and closure apparatus to secure the bandage in place. ​ The IFAK was issued to every deploying US Army soldier via the Rapid Fielding Initiative – and was a tremendous success.
