Active shooter situations are usually unpredictable and quickly develop. Often, much harm is done in the first 10-15 minutes before law enforcement is able to arrive on scene. It is important to develop a plan to mitigate risk factors that aid would be attackers, survive the attack, and treat casualties. In 2021, active shooter attacks increased 52.5% compared to 2020 and 103.3% compared to 2018 and 2019. 61 active shooter incidents were reported, more than double the number of attacks that took place in the two years prior.
